Admissions

Admissions

Admission priority  to NYC Elementary Schools is based on several key factors, such as:

  • Whether the child is zoned for the school

  • If they have a sibling already attending

  • District residency

  • Plus other considerations

For the full breakdown, visit the NYC Department of Education website for more details.

Kindergarten Admissions

NYC families with children born in 2020 can apply to Kindergarten for the 2025-26 school year. The official application period closed on January 24, 2025 but parents can still add their child to P.S. 118 Kindergarten waitlist through MySchools until mid-September.

Apply one of three ways:

Check the DOE Kindergarten Admission Guide to learn more about Kindergarten Admissions.

First Grade to Fifth Grade Admissions

For more information on admissions for non-zoned first to fifth graders,  please contact our parent coordinator, Teresa at mbazzi@schools.nyc.gov

We still have room to accept students on most grades for the 2025-26 school year.

We are a zoned school; however, if there is space, we will accept non-zoned students. If you want your child to attend a school they are not zoned for, contact the Family Welcome Center and provide a strong justification for why your child should be placed in a different school.

School Tours

Each year between November and January,  we host in-person tours for all prospective parents, mainly focused on Kindergarten, but we’re happy to answer questions about grades 1–5 too. Tours offer the opportunity to meet administrators and PTA (Parent Teacher Association) members while exploring our school building and learning about our community.

We are not always able to offer school tours on demand, but prospective families interested in visiting P.S. 118 should contact our parent coordinator Teresa at mbazzi@schools.nyc.gov

School tours for this year have ended. Please check this page again in October 2025 for a list of tour dates and times and a registration link.
