Library

The Library at PS 118 is a place where students learn how a library is organized, what the parts of a book are and how to care for books.  Students also learn how to browse for books and how to select a “just right” book for themselves.   While they learn that the job of an author, illustrator and publisher are important, our students also get to know the different writing styles of these authors and illustrators.  They have at their fingertips a plethora of books to explore in all genres Fiction and Nonfiction.  We have a growing “easy chapter book” section, an “advanced chapter books” section and an extensive collection of picture books.  Our “I can read” section is one that our younger students love to browse through.

Our Library book selection is extensive and new, with over 5,000 titles. We have a dedicated teacher with years of theater arts experience who transforms an ordinary read aloud into exciting storytelling and reader’s theater opportunities for our students.
